Oh Nine, So Fine!!

Gosh, I just cannot believe that this is the end of 2009! Man what a life changing and incredible year. I have a made so many new awesome new friends and I don't regret a single moment I have had with them. I have gone to the Dominican Republic, became a stronger person, and grew in the old relationships I already had. I love my friends so dang much. I can't even describe how thankful and blessed to have them in my life. I feel so lucky to even say that I know them! They inspire me to grow stronger in my relationship with God and are there for me when I'm loosing my grip of hope. I thank God for a wonderful and memorable year and for all the people He has put into my life.

Two thousand nine was an amazing year, but now I an ready for an even better two thousand ten! Gosh 2010, even hearing that makes me feel weird. I can't wait to fall in love with Kenya this March and hopefully be able to go back to my other love..the Dominican Republic! I'll also be driving! Oh and next fall I'll be a upperclassman! That's so crazy! Time just goes by to so fast! I don't really have any goals for this next year but I think I'll come up with them soon, I don't know. I'm not they type who thinks of these kinds of things. I love the life I live right now where I am surrounded by God's grace and people that I love so so much.
And so I conclude this last post of 2009 I say Happy New Year to you all!
Happy 2010!!!!

This One Time in Art Class..

Today I was so excited to see my latest art project complete. So having nothing else to do I went up to my teacher and asked if there was another project I can start on. He told me to go on the computer and find a cartoon characters I'd like to draw. So I went on Google and typed in Phineas and Ferb and started drawing. I was very happy with the result:

Hello World! (Again)

My reasons for not blogging:

SCHOOL

HSM BAND

LIFE

I am sorry for the upsets to the 5 people who read my blog but I have been a busy little SOPHOMORE and have been enjoying life. So in honer of my return here is a long random post made by me just for you.

One Year- Last weekend I was singing for the adult services (Big Church) at church. On Sunday night I realized that exactly one year ago, a very good friend of mine came up and said hi to me for the first time. Realizing that I couldn't help but break down into tears and cry. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be in the HSM band singing, I wouldn't have know all the awesome people i now know and i might not have gone to the Dominican Republic. CrAzY!!!! Thinking about that I was reminded of how God works in such awesome ways.

Sweet 16- I am so stoked that I am turning 16 in a couple of months! Even though I won't be getting my license (since i still don't have my permit) I'm still excited and happy. I can't wait to be in a place with a big dance floor and I'm surrounded by the loves of my life.

Math- This year I am in Geometry. Gross? Not at all?! I actually love my class and the subject. And I'm real good at it too. I don't know why but my mom says it's because I'm artistic which makes it easy for me. The funny thing is that when I am drawing in art (especially people) I can easily spot geometric shapes. Weird? Ya. Exciting? I guess.
Art Class- I really (x10) love my class. I love that I am doing what I love and building up my skills. I love to be surprised that I have a skill like this. Ex: When I first start a project I first think, "I hope I can do this good". But then I look at the finished project and I am amazed by how I put it together. Then I think, "I did this?!" I thank God for blessing me with my artistic skill.

Indie- If you have ever heard or seeing the Indie style I realized I really like that style. It's just me: simple, elegant, fun, and cool.
And now for da BIG news..........
I'm going to KENYA!!!!
I cannot wait for this trip. It's a big trip but I think I'm up for it. As I was in the Dominican Republic I just grew a love for serving people like that and playing with the very cute kids. March 4-14. Oh YES!
So there you have it. An update on my life
enjoy.

I.......

I am not ready for summer to end.
I am kinda, but not so much, excited for my sophomore year to begin.
I don't like starting school on a really random day, Tuesday .(Sep. 1st)
I would like to get fake glasses. (I'm sorry that was random)
I am jealous of my friends who start school the week after me.
I wish i had more plans in the week.
I refuse to spend my last days of summer in the house.
I am about half way done with drivers ed!
I can't believe i turn 16 in a matter of months!
I miss my old friend, the rain.
I didn't like that it was 95 degrees out today.
I have a lot more to say.
I just don't have a lot of room to say it.
I think i'm done with this list.

So

It's been a while since i last blogged. Truthfully my life hasn't really been interesting enough to blog about. And besides, i m talking to about 5 people here. Also i was sick all last week, which was not fun. Not fun in the least bit. Well the thing is that i wasn't the only one of my friends that was sick. Turns out a whole bunch of people who went to the second week of Ojai got sick, weird. But i am proud to say, i survived my sickness and was able to sing that weekend. So there you have it. I'm not sure if i will be blogging daily again but hey what happens, happens.

Ojai '09 Oh My!

I just came back from the best week of camp in the world!

So Great!

So Fun!

So Strange....but still great!

I saw God work in such awesome ways I couldn't believe. GOD IS SO AMAZING!

And now for the main event.........a lovely list of just some of my favorite things about my week.

  1. The Camp. Oh what a beautiful place! Oh what a beautiful first sight to see when i woke up each morning. The whole place was incredible! It was even better at night with all those gorgeous, bright stars placed in the night sky. Whenever i looked up at those precious things i was reminded oh how creative God is. I was just in awe of how He could come up with all of it! That's one of the reasons why i love camp. To get away from the city, focus on God, and enjoy the beauty.

  2. The Speaker. Josh Riebock. I loved how he told stories that i have heard millions of times and show me something new in them. He just explained things so dang good! He is such an awesome, hilarious, and powerful speaker. His stories have changed the way i will live out my faith from now on.

  3. The Rec. games. So crazy. So fun! So brilliant.

  4. The God moments. It was God moment after God moment with me and one specific friend of mine. I loved it! I love how God worked in us through are talks. Some of you might say, "Those just might be simple coincidence." But wrong! It was so amazing, indescribable, and just plain awesome.

  5. Date/Camps Got Talent/Dance Party Night. Oh my what an awesome way to spend the last night/morning of camp. My date...a freshmen friend. The talent show............so DANG funny! Oh and the dance party even better! It was so fun! I just danced the morning away with some awesome people. We are so crazy when we're together and i love it with a very large chunk of my heart.

  6. The Fellow Camp Peeps. I made some awesome new friends and got closer with some awesome old ones. I love how I not only got closer in my relationship with God but also with some great friends. It was just what I needed. I had such amazing and growing conversations. I was surrounded with so many awesome people that I am so lucky to be able to call my friends.

  7. The Food. Ok maybe not the food.

Now I have a surprise for all 5 of you who read my blog. Some of my favorite pictures curticy of Harry (my camera).

Kyle and then Grant being a creeper in the back. We're just so awesome!

Devon, he's so great.

Friends of whom i love.

Mr. Tumnus (Heather) and Lucy (ME!) from Narnia remake. I love this with a large chunk of my heart.

Andrew and I. Just 2 dorky actin', God lovin', HSM band singin' people who just so happen to be friends.

So as you can see i pretty much had one of the best weeks of my life.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Box Form

What started out as a pile of boxes near my mom's office in the church office turned in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Well, I was board and I love Harry Potter. Put that and a pile of boxes together and you get this. Enjoy.

An Owl up there^^^^
Harry, Ron and Hermione down here.
Hogwarts, or a poor attempt.

October 1st, Could you Come Any Slower?

As of now if I want to get a new phone Sprint only gives me a $75 rate. Meaning that only 75 dollars of it if free.

Which sucks because when getting a new phone, that's not a lot of money.

So I have to wait until October first when that doubles to $150, which is so much better than $75. Also i can get a nicer phone too .

I've had my old one for i think a little over 2 years. Or a little under. Point is i really don't like my phone very much. Don't get me wrong I am grateful for it but it gets old after a long while. Especially when you've been wanting a new one for a long time. You know what i mean?

And so i say once again: "Aw well, it's worth the wait."

8% Done

I'm talking about Driver's Ed.

Ya that's right I'm back no track with it.

Now last time I had only one unit test done and then didn't start again until today. It feels good now that I have almost 10% done. It also feels good to be able to say that I'm once again working on getting my permit. The only thing is that I just want to be done with this so I can have my permit. The more friends that I know that have their permit or license the more it makes me want to be able to be done with this. But there's nothing more I can do but wait and keep on working. Oh well, it will be worth it in the end anyways.

And so for completing 4 unit tests i decided to reward myself with a few servings of chai tea.

I deserved it. :)

10 Things I Won't do When I'm Old and Grey

  1. Own a cat

  2. Take that cat for a walk in a stroller w/ shade screen

  3. Put the words like "Spice" and "Mellon" together when I greet my grand kids

  4. Eat dinner at 4 PM

  5. Wear Orthopedic shoes

  6. Knit socks and give them as Christmas gifts to my grand kids

  7. Have a pet bird

  8. Drive 5 MPH on the road

  9. Eat bran

  10. Go to bed at 7

Just for your information: My grandparents have none of those things. Well one of my grandma's own a cat but it adopted her, she didn't get it at the pet store. But still. This was inspired my my weird old neighbor that really does things number 1 and 2. By things i mean my list not............actually I'm not gonna go there. If you don't get what i mean well, think for a second.

Oh Dear! I'm Starting to Get Worried!

I just found out last night that my camera that I just got for Christmas, is broken. I'm gonna go to Target later on. Now I'm hoping that they will give me the money back and use that money pulse some cash I have saved up to buy this other camera for $280.00. Oh dear i do hope this works out. Now I know what your thinking. "What's the big deal, it's just a camera, I know you like 'em and stuff but what's the rush?". First oh all, it is a big deal and here's why.

I LEAVE FOR OJAI ON SUNDAY!!!!!!!

Ya, summer camp. And having a camera is VERY important to have around during camp.

Do you understand now?!

One of 6

Last night I when to a surprise 16th Birthday party for my friend Chase. Awesome night by the way. Anyways there was an airbrush tattoo guy there. I ended up getting 6 tattoos through out the night! I have: my life verse (Psalm 30:11-12) on my right arm, a dove on the side of my neck, a rose (my middle name) on my right ankle, feathers on my left arm, "Hosanna" written across my nickles, and finally as always Olam Ahava on my wrist. Ok I admit it the last on I already had on and I drew it with a Sharpie. But I still count it as one of my tattoos. And for those of you who don't know Olam Ahava means everlasting love in Hebrew.
Oh and the picture. Just for your enjoyment. Sorry you can't see it very well, I tried my best.

Red Light, Green Light

For the past couple of days I have been singing at Summer Spectacular (VBS, Saddleback style). Here's how it works we (the band) do 3 songs in the morning then 3 in the afternoon. After the first set we eat breakfast then go back in the tent where we sing. We like to use our spare time in there by well doing a bunch of random stuff. But something we always do is, play a group game. Today's game.....Red Light, Green Light.

Now we play this game a bit different. For one thing, ya can't laugh or smile. Another thing Taffy (HSM band leader), will try to make us flinch or laugh. For instance he came up to my friend Kyle and started dinging "A Whole New World" from Aladdin and wrapped a pink feather boa around him. Or he'll pop a balloon in your face, weird stuff like that. That is why we will not be asking Taffy if we could play Red Light, Green Light anytime soon. Or never again.

Oh and about the picture, just kinda shows what Taffy put us through. In this case my friends Hannah and Kyle. Once his work was done he to people to take pictures of them, haha. This makes me laugh every time.

Shamwow

So one of my brother's (Zac) spent some of his birthday money to buy 8 Shamwows. Don't ask me why, just continue to read this post and try to understand his weird ways. Any who, ever since then tall three of my brothers have been "spilling" their water on the floor and then cleaning up their mess with their brand new Shamwows. Not to mention they have also been showing me the absorbency powers of the Shamwow.

I know,

I live a strange life.

But I love it.

How Can I Say This?

I have not written a good long post in a while (not promising that you will love this one). I think it's because my life hasn't been interesting to blog about. I don't know, point is I think it's about time I blog a long one. So with out further of due, lets get started (sorry I couldn't think of anything better to say).
I really love my TOMS. Even if they are a wee bit too small for me and that it's time I get new ones. Fortunately I have to wait until next week because I am watching a neighbors house and they won't be back until Tuesday. Then I have to wait until the 1st to get them personalized. All I know is that I want Olam Ahava (in Hebrew text) somewhere on them. I'll think of something.

I'm in the middle of Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire. I really love the book. The weird thing about me is that I will only read at night when everyone else is sleeping. I don't like reading during the day because I dislike being tired in the middle of the afternoon.
I am in love with the song "A Drop in the Ocean". If one of my guy friends sang that song to me I will love them forever. It is so dang cute.

Speaking of music I am so excited for the new Hillsong album to come out.

I have a busy week ahead of me. Me and the rest of the HSM choir will be singing at Summer Spectacular (Vacation Bible School). I can not wait.

I have not done drivers ed in such a long time. Half of me would love to be able to drive around and what not. But the other half is too lazy and hates being lazy and feels like I don't deserve it for that reason. At the same time it also feels like a competition. Whenever i hear about one of my friends saying that they are doing driving stuff I think, "Ahh, lucky". I mean it's easy but also just plain boring. Well no one promised it'd be fun.

I'd like to get a new phone a.s.a.p. I could since my contract is almost up but I'm not sure when I'd have the time to go to the Sprint store and get one.

Speaking of buying things there are 2 major items I'd love to have right now. A Mac Book and a Nikon camera (the big one). The camera is everything I want in a pro camera: small, easy to use and the best part only 280 bucks! I can get that money no problem. But the Man Book could be a problem. I mean it's $1,200. I was thinking I could pay a fraction of it and the rest is for both my birthday AND Christmas present. The down side, my birthday's not until December.

At Girls Day a group of my friends and I realized Halloween is not so far from now. That subject was brought up because we were talking about Pumpkin Fest (HSM's Halloween party). Then we were thinking of what our costumes should be. I was thinking maybe '80's or a mouse. For that I'd wear my black/gray dress, rosy cheeks, blah, blah, blah.

Olam Ahava

In English means everlasting love. I came across the 2 words when I was reading a Psalm and I instantly fell in love with them. Then I thought, Wonder what that looks like in Hebrew. So I went on Google Translator and found out. It looks pretty awesome. Now I am addicted to writing it all over. In fact I am going to get my TOMS painted on the first and somewhere it's gonna say Olam Ahava (in the Hebrew text that is). Also if I ever get a tattoo this would be it. Don't worry mother, I'll wait until my 18th birthday. But for now I'll be writing it on my wrist every now and then.

Post Script: In the picture, excuse the awkward arm. And a little F.Y.I my arm is not fat in real life at all.

Out of Place Much?

A few days ago I went took a little trip to Fashion Island.

Just when I thought I was having a normal day, well I spoke too soon.

Why? Because I saw 3 Chinese monks.

Shaved head, sandals with socks, long robes, the whole 9 yards.

Weird right?

Right.

Mango Fever

The mangos i had in the Dominican Republic were unlike anything I've ever tasted. So sweet, so delicious. And no I'm so missing them. So when my dad came home from the store he pulled out a bag full of mangos, YAY! I was excited when I tried one this morning. Now I knew they weren't from the DR (they were from Mexico) so I didn't expect them to be real sweet. Don't get me wrong they were good, but I still miss the Dominican Republic mangos. Oh well, thanks anyways dad.

Thought About it.....Bad Idea

You may or may not remember that I said that I planned on going to the Harry Potter Premier. Well let's just say, things don't always turn out the way you plan. You see I sing for PDYM on Tuesday and Thursday night. So to go and see Harry Potter at midnight on Wednesday and probably not come home to maybe 2:00 AM. And then have to sing the next night well I think you get the point about now. If you don't get it then stop looking at the screen and go see a doctor because you may be suffering from extreme stupidity. But don't you worry there is hope and with proper help you can find a cure.

Facebook Status

If you have a facebook then you know that on the status box is a little question the says,"What's on your mind?". Now if i did that with my status just now i'd run out of room to write. So i'll share that with you. Enjoy.

  • Someone just walked into the bathroom. Don't know who, some creeper.
  • My hair, ew. I feel like it grew a lot since i left. I really want to get it cut a.s.a.p
  • Harry Potter(i will be talking about for the next few bullet points) : My friend and i had a long conversation about it. That's when you know you're a HP nerd.
  • I took a quiz on Facebook saying "Which Harry Potter Character Are You Most Like?". My result-Neville Longbottom. I like that character, I was happy with the result. Sure it would have been cool to be Hermime but Neville's cool.
  • I just realized that the movie comes out Wednesday! Ahhh I'm so dang excited.
  • I think my DR friends suffer from SD: Separation Disorder.
  • I don't get it. I mean we (the peeps from that went to the DR) decided to wear our PDYM shirts to church tomorrow. Doesn't it make more scene to wear or DR shirts. The ones with my design on it? Oh well.
  • SNL (Summer Nights of Laughter) is tonight. Some of my DR peeps are going and my friend Slater is in it. I'm so excited for tonight.
  • I want to go to Urban Outfitters. Now would be nice.
  • I'm worried. I have a list of songs that I need to learn and sing for PDYM Tuesday and Thursday. The list is at my house, I'm at my friend's beach house until Tuesday. I need to get the songs on iTunes.
  • Wait PDYM is on Tuesday. Probably a bad idea to go see the midnight premiere of Half-Blood Prince.
  • I miss the DR. I wish I was able to hop on a plane and fly over there.

Well, that's all folks.

It was in God's Hands

When we got to the church to set up for PDYM on Saturday my friend and I decided to do the Lifehouse skit. We kinda planed on doing it but never got to practice before we left. So we asked the leaders if it was ok and they said yes but there was a catch, we only had 2 hours to practice it! In a hurry we rallied up anyone else that wanted to be apart of the skit and as we went around those who didn't which to join said, "You guys can't pull it off. It took El Toro a month and a half before they were ready." But did we listen to them, heck no.

We finally got everyone and the first thing that hit us was how we were supposed to practice if we didn't have a lap top to view the video on You Tube. A few seconds later one of the leaders from the church we were helping came in with her Mac Book and let us borrow it. F.Y.I we practiced outside in very hot and humid weather. The good news: there was a rotating fan n the celling.

As we practiced we hit yet another problem: costumes. We needed: a robe for God, a flower for the boyfriend, a hat for the guy who represented greed, a bottle and paper bag for the drunk (ME!), a dress for the model, and a hat, knife and marker for the suicide kid. Moments later....we got them from other people :)!

As we were practicing and watching the video we had a problem with timing! We came to the decision that there was a part of the song when she threw down the knife and tried to go to God. All we had to do was wing it until that point. After 2 hours of hard work and dancing, we were ready....or were we? When we got backstage we were so nerves, so many things could go wrong: the song never plays, we don't get to the part in time, everything! All we could do was pray and let God take total control of it. And let me tell ya....WE ROCKED!!! Nothing went wrong! The timing, the movements, everything was perfect! We were so thrilled to hear the cheers of the audience.

After we were done so many people came up to us crying, telling how great it was and how much they were moved! That was the greatest feeling in the world so great, i cried myself :). It was also great to hear from our team when they said that even our team leader was crying, everyone was. When i went up to my friend Bryce he said, "That was amazing! You did so good!". And to all those guys who said we couldn't do it, boy did we show them! Hahaha!

After the trip my friend Jordan put up some pictures of us doing the skit and put them up on facebook. It was good to see all those kind comments such as: "Better than El Toro", "You guys were amazing!" etc. etc.

God is so Great :).

And F.Y.I if you want to see the video go to: www.hsmdr2009.blogspot.com. And remember I played the drunk.

P.S. Sorry for the supper long post. My origanl plan was to just mention the video. But the story was too good to miss. So enjoy and your welcome. ;)

Home Sweet Home

I'M ALIVE! A little jet lagged but alive! Wow, that week was so incredible, so amazing. I have seen God work in such incredible ways not only in my heart but also the hearts of the rest of my team and the people of the Dominican Republic. I can definitely see myself coming back next year, oh or maybe even Africa. Now here's the thing right now my family and i are staying at our friend's beach house for the next 8 days and i don't have a way of getting my pictures. I'll figure something out. And when i do you will be able to see all the things i saw on my trip. Not to mention i will be posting about some of my favorite stories from the trip as well. It's so great to be home and see my loving family. Not to mention the American food that i missed so much ;). It was really great to be able to go to HSM vocals practice and be welcomed by some of my friends that i missed so much with open arms and encouraging words. When i saw them i was so eager to tell them all my stories. At that time i wished that i could put everyone together to sit down so i can share the amazing things God has put in my heart. Well that's all for now folks. Pictures will come soon, i hope. But before i go i would like to thank everyone for all their love, support, and prayers. I will leave you with a quote, "I never knew i could feel this much".

Love in Him,
Maddy Rose Vujnov!

How Sweet

My friend Slater gave me this today before I leave for the Dominican Republic.

Yes this is a real flower, just saying.
I mean seriously how awesome are my friends, very! :)

Goodbyes

I have said goodbye many times.

But it doesn't get any easier

This weekend I had to say goodbye to all of my church friends since I will be in the Dominican Republic until the 6th. I am so thankful for each and every one of them and I know that God has put each other in our lives for a reason. After all the people that came up to me saying how proud they were of me. And them saying that they will be praying for me everyday I'm gone. And all of the last hug goodbyes. After all that I couldn't help but smile and thank God for such amazing friends. I hate having to say goodbye to them. But I will see them soon and it will be worth it when I share all the stories and everything. If you are one of my HSM friends I would like to say thank you for everything and I will miss you. And to all my other friends I would like to thank as well and I will miss you too. So goodbye for now I shall see you soon.

Post Script: I'll try to blog tomorrow but if I don't I will say once again: Goodbye blog land! I shall see you soon!

Thanks Andrew!!! :)

Now I already mentioned that my friend Andrew has kindly let me brow his Harry Potter books for the airplane ride to the D R and for reading to finish the series. So today when I walked into the green room to sing at the Worship Conference I was given the books. When he gave them to me he told me that all together there was a total of 2,000 pages. And right when he said that this thought came into my head, Dang, I got a lot of reading to do.

In 5 Dayz

I will be waking up very early

I will be ready

I will be boarding a plane

I will be leaving for the Dominican Republic!!!

Ahhh I just can't even believe that I am actually going on this life changing trip! I can not wait to see what God has in store for me when I get there.

Now keep in mind that I will be on a plane pretty much most of my day. We fly to Miami where we have a 2 hour lay over and then fly to the D.R. I know what your thinking, that's a lot of flying. I know it's early and I know I'll be tired but it will be so worth it though. But don't worry I will be prepared for that flight. I'm not going to bring my iTouch because a) I'm afraid I'll lose it and b) we're not allowed to anyways. So that got me thinking, "What am I supposed to do in those airplane rids besides sleep if I don't have my iTouch." Now I have been in this situation before and my plan didn't work out so well. But now I know what I'm up against and what to do. So today I went over to my local Barnes and Nobel and bought......Mad Libs. That has helped me survive other long distance trips before and has never failed once. I will also be bringing Harry Potter books 4-6, courtesy of my friend Andrew (Thanks Andrew!!! :). I might not finish all of them but I will bring them, just in case. And if those don't work (doubt it!0 I am still surrounded by some people that I love with every little piece of my heart (my team a.k.a my friends). I'm so excited.

Not Regrets

For those of you who don't know I love Transformers. And I was so stoked to hear about the new movie. You may or may not know but it premiered tonight/ this morning at midnight. You may be thinking that I am blogging about how awesome the movie was but you would be wrong. That's right I didn't go. I wanted to but I really didn't make plans so ya. But I'm kinda glad I didn't go. The reason why is because I was very tired that day and I had to get up early the next morning. Don't get me wrong I mean I would have loved to go but I can only do so much. I mean I haven't even been out of school for a week and I have already done so much. I guess I can go see it some other time. Also I just have so much going on: Worship Conference/Refinery Drive-In movie night on Friday, Church all weekend, packing for Dominican Republic on Monday, and then I leave not-so-bright and early for the Dominican Republic on Tuesday. I know I have said this thousands of times but I'll say it again.............. I'M SO DANG EXCITED!!!!!! WOOOOOOO! And besides I still have plans to see the midnight premiere of Harry Potter ;).

The Feeling of Summer

Normally it takes about a week for me to get that real feeling like you know it's summer vacation. Yesterday I didn't have that feeling. Which is weird because I was at the beach with some dear friends. Not to mention it was such a beautiful day. Oh and it was on a Monday. But today when I walked out side and felt that warm summer sun of my cheeks I knew that the summer feeling had finally come. That also might have had to do with the fact that i was coming from a new hair cut. And I love the feeling after a fresh new hair cut. You know light and just fun. Oh and in the car I was wearing my red Ray-Bans, new Refinery shirt, and torn up jean shorts. I know, I've gone OC-summer. But that's what you get in Southern California. But right now I have a view of a beautiful day out my window, drinking Coke, and having lunch. Man I love summer. :)
